\n<\/b><\/span>
\nAn age away, the scented evergreens<\/span>
\nare still, a lucent wave commits<\/span>
\nto hush, the sun emits a breath,<\/span>
\nas the noon-deep<\/span>
\nlabourings commence:<\/span>
\nthe slender, severed necks<\/span>
\nare tossed, the throttled mouths<\/span>
\nare mounted in the heat,<\/span>
\nand inch by inch<\/span>
\nthe fragrant earth is stripped<\/span>
\nof human foliage, an<\/span>
\nevacuated island<\/span>
\nglinting in the sun,<\/span>
\nwhose high, in-<\/span>
\nsinuating witness, too,<\/span>
\nis whittled down<\/span>
\nby windy-deep sea-distances<\/span>
\ntraversed by golden ships,<\/span>
\nthe agony<\/span>
\ndrowned out,<\/span>
\nthe heady deaths annulled \u2013<\/span>
\na complicated commerce<\/span>
\nthat finds its second lustre here,<\/span>
\nin the satin cheeks<\/span>
\nand quiffed moustache<\/span>
\nof the Laughing Cavalier<\/i>,<\/span>
\nthe fluorescent cuffs<\/span>
\nand florid sash<\/span>
\na single flow and glimmering,<\/span>
\nhis canny, quiet eyes<\/span>
\na-gleam, two tiny pools<\/span>
\nof blue and black,<\/span>
\npricked<\/span>
\nby the light of the world.<\/span><\/div>\n
