{"id":14304,"date":"2022-10-21T16:13:34","date_gmt":"2022-10-21T15:13:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cassandravoices.com\/?p=14304"},"modified":"2022-10-21T16:13:34","modified_gmt":"2022-10-21T15:13:34","slug":"poetry-michaela-brady","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casswp.eutonom.eu\/index.php\/2022\/10\/21\/poetry-michaela-brady\/","title":{"rendered":"Poetry: Michaela Brady"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Uaigneas (D\u00e1n do m\u2019athair)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Crows befriend the bread-handed boy,<br \/>\nSquawk and battle for a bite.<br \/>\nMetro wires hiss and wheeze,<br \/>\nSpite the hills and sun-soaked fields.<\/p>\n<p>New York blinks its bloodshot stare,<br \/>\nRecalling you and I were there.<br \/>\nFrom azure deli doors,<br \/>\nWhiffs of baking bread<br \/>\nFlirt with slow-cook sunburn.<\/p>\n<p>But now I can be anywhere;<br \/>\nWestern cities groan the same.<br \/>\nRiding through a London green,<br \/>\nGliding through the shadowed dawn;<br \/>\nI\u2019m convinced it\u2019s just the same.<\/p>\n<p>But where are you when I awake?<br \/>\nWhere are you, voice beneath music,<br \/>\nBrimming with stories owned and rented,<br \/>\nDebates and schemes for woodsy walks.<\/p>\n<p>Bottled up in bucket seats, we watch<br \/>\nAs worlds of millions catch the day,<br \/>\nBattle for statues to recall their names.<br \/>\nWe\u2019re facing west to Hudson, south to Thames.<\/p>\n<p>Do you have a friend these mornings?<br \/>\nDo you choose to drift and dream?<br \/>\nYes, it\u2019s just the same.<br \/>\nAnd never is again.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Feature Image: Daniele Idini<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uaigneas (D\u00e1n do m\u2019athair) Crows befriend the bread-handed boy, Squawk and battle for a bite.
