{"id":14559,"date":"2022-11-22T12:10:24","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T12:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cassandravoices.com\/?p=14559"},"modified":"2022-11-22T12:10:24","modified_gmt":"2022-11-22T12:10:24","slug":"poetry-kevin-higgins-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casswp.eutonom.eu\/index.php\/2022\/11\/22\/poetry-kevin-higgins-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Poetry: Kevin Higgins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Formation of a Young Irish Intellectual<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>after Nazim Hikmet<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>You will go far young person<br \/>\nif as soon as you enter this building<br \/>\nyou follow standard operating procedures<br \/>\nand stop thinking altogether.<\/p>\n<p>We will do the thinking for you.<br \/>\nFor the more intellectually curious of you<br \/>\nthis will be as difficult initially<br \/>\nas nailing yourself to a chair.<br \/>\nBut the appropriate doses<br \/>\nof the right sort of alcohol will ease<br \/>\nyou into it.<\/p>\n<p>Before long, you\u2019ll find yourself<br \/>\nnot thinking a thing.<br \/>\nIn your lunch break, you\u2019ll write poems<br \/>\nthat are secretly okay with NATO<br \/>\nand won\u2019t know where they came from.<br \/>\nBut we\u2019ll know,<br \/>\nand that\u2019s all that matters.<\/p>\n<p>We have a library of pre-existing think pieces<br \/>\nfrom which you can choose your opinions,<br \/>\nwhich we\u2019d like you to massage<br \/>\nso they seem different at first<br \/>\nbut end up being exactly the same as the rest of us.<br \/>\nFor there is no opinion worth having<br \/>\nthat someone in here hasn\u2019t already had.<\/p>\n<p>You will be in favour of all the right wars<br \/>\nwithout having to sweat the niceties<br \/>\nand put the appropriate flag<br \/>\non your Twitter handle<br \/>\nwithout us ever having to mention it.<\/p>\n<p>You have no idea yet<br \/>\nthe thoughts we have in store for you.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Feature Image: UCD Quinn School of Business.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Formation of a Young Irish Intellectual after Nazim Hikmet You will go far young person if as soon as you enter this building you follow standard operating procedures and stop thinking altogether.
