But why?\u201d<br \/>\nI\u2019m sick of your confounded cry.<\/p>\n<p>London is Open\u2014<br \/>\nBut when is a kind word spoken<br \/>\nAt 8 AM when elbows stab your side,<br \/>\nA slouching drunk swallows your Pride,<br \/>\nAnd grinning altruists shiver and wait<br \/>\nFor you to blink and take their bait?<br \/>\nAnd so we move in clogging thuds,<br \/>\nWeave through drying gum and blood.<\/p>\n<p>London, what are you doing?<br \/>\nAre you even awake?<br \/>\n\u201cCity that never sleeps\u201d? I\u2019m suing.<br \/>\nYou plagiarize for tourism\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n<p>London, you pander to the saints,<br \/>\nResign yourself as relatively quaint.<br \/>\nYou barely know where you end,<br \/>\nYou hardly care when around the bend<br \/>\nThe streets are piled with shoveled debris;<br \/>\nYou gentrify, refine, on your austerity spree.<\/p>\n<p>I want to love your complacency,<br \/>\nThat languid beauty in every face you see;<br \/>\nYou have extolled diversity.<br \/>\nYou lack sincerity.<br \/>\nIf Broadway bleeds, the West End is dry\u2014<br \/>\nNot \u201cif\u201d, that\u2019s exactly what I mean by<\/p>\n<p>Passionless, reserved, ancient, tranquil;<br \/>\nI repine, I whine, but still I\u2019m thankful.<br \/>\nAs I dissociate on your timely Underground,<br \/>\nElton\u2019s voice sings, \u201cfor the people I have found.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Image: Daniele Idini<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gratitude \u201cHate it here?
