{"id":14929,"date":"2023-03-02T08:23:44","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T08:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cassandravoices.com\/?p=14929"},"modified":"2023-03-02T08:23:44","modified_gmt":"2023-03-02T08:23:44","slug":"poetry-rhys-mumford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casswp.eutonom.eu\/index.php\/2023\/03\/02\/poetry-rhys-mumford\/","title":{"rendered":"Poetry: Rhys Mumford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">On Opening A Door<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I left the cafe<br \/>\nI planted my leading foot beside the door<br \/>\nThe front of my shoe just nudging the skirting<br \/>\nAnd I reached for the handle<br \/>\nwith my opposite hand.<br \/>\nI only mention this because<br \/>\n(and eschewing false modesty)<br \/>\nmy positioning was perfect.<br \/>\nIt was perfect.<br \/>\nMy carriage optimally aligned,<br \/>\nI was centred, in equilibrium,<br \/>\nI was the Platonic ideal of a Archimedean lever.<br \/>\nI pulled the door towards me<br \/>\nwith balance, fluidity and poise.<br \/>\nIn short I do not think<br \/>\nI could have opened that door<br \/>\nany better than I did.<br \/>\nAnd if anybody were watching<br \/>\nPerhaps they would have thought:<br \/>\nWe do not know the situation of this man<br \/>\nHis career-prospects<br \/>\nPersonality<br \/>\nOr status of his soul<br \/>\nBut this we know:<br \/>\nOn one occasion<br \/>\nHere, this day,<br \/>\nhe opened that door<br \/>\nMagnificently.<br \/>\nI wonder if<br \/>\nanybody<br \/>\nnoticed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Opening A Door When I left the cafe I planted my leading foot beside the door The front of my shoe just nudging the skirting And I reached for the handle with my opposite hand.
