Everything lingers<br \/>\nin climax, the character of the light, earthy<br \/>\nfragrances, a whole heaving calendar week<br \/>\nwith an arched spine.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how I know the world<br \/>\nis ill and absurd: a dead fawn stares up<br \/>\nfrom the roadside, spots unsullied, perfect<br \/>\nand gone. Most days I choose to forget, but<\/p>\n<p>entire families explode in Palestine. Cascades<br \/>\nof leaves now.
