She now writes for the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/thegrayzone.com\/\">Grayzone<\/a><\/span>, founded by her husband <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Max_Blumenthal\">Max Blumenthal<\/a><\/span> in 2015, an online publication which aims to \u2018break through any narrative of the day that is pushing the United States\u2019 public in support of war.\u2019 Previously she worked as a producer and broadcaster, then an anchor correspondent, for Russia Today (U.S.), from which she was fired, after refusing to accept restrictions on her reporting of U.S. foreign policy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In this podcast Anya likens writing about U.S. foreign policy from Washington D.C. to working inside \u2018the belly of the beast\u2019. Her work charts the policy machinations emanating from what she describes as a \u2018deep state\u2019 whose power, she argues, exceeds democratically elected politicians.<\/p>\n<p>Anya is the author of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/orbooks.com\/corporate-coup-1\/\"><i>Corporate Coup \u2013 Venezuela and the End of US Empire<\/i><\/a><\/span> (Or Books, New York, 2023), which dissects the motivations of the U.S. government, under the presidency of Donald Trump \u2013 directed in particular by figures such as <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/former-senior-us-official-john-bolton-admits-planning-attempted-foreign-coups-2022-07-12\/\">John Bolton<\/a><\/span> and Eliot Abrams \u2013 to sponsor a shadow government of Venezuela under Juan Gua\u00eddo to challenge President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro.<\/p>\n<p>As we approach another Presidential election, Anya sees little hope of a change in approach from the U.S. towards a country containing greater oil reserves than any other country on planet Earth.
