{"id":18597,"date":"2026-03-23T12:39:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T12:39:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cassandravoices.com\/?p=18597"},"modified":"2026-03-23T12:39:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T12:39:08","slug":"poem-chimera-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casswp.eutonom.eu\/index.php\/2026\/03\/23\/poem-chimera-times\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem: Chimera Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Chimera Times<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ve lived beyond your relevance\u2014<br \/>\nAnother song, another age,<br \/>\nAnother line while in a trance,<br \/>\nRoutine by prompt, an empty stage.<br \/>\nThe art lives past the life, and all<br \/>\nThey want is what you did when young,<br \/>\nThe bright first thing, the curtain call,<br \/>\nWhen fireworks flew and bells were rung.<br \/>\nYet still the audience appears.<br \/>\nThe props are now collectible,<br \/>\nBut all creation\u2019s in arrears,<br \/>\nAnd art is imperfectible.<br \/>\nA shiver slices to your core.<br \/>\nYour fans will get the eulogy<br \/>\nBefore you end the trilogy<br \/>\nYou started many years before:<br \/>\nA snowball with a granite shard,<br \/>\nThe encore to an emptied hall,<br \/>\nThe dance all done, the classics played.<br \/>\nBack then it was not so hard<br \/>\nTo be the major act, enthrall<br \/>\nYour fans, at least the ones who stayed.<br \/>\nA fad will rise, a bubble pop<br \/>\nWith the slightest touch. The greatest hits<br \/>\nCame out before you called it quits,<br \/>\nAnd \u201ctimeless love\u201d was set to stop.<br \/>\nYou won the day but lost the war,<br \/>\nRemembered as the one who did<br \/>\nThat thing, you know, the thing he did,<br \/>\nThe thing he does for one more tour,<br \/>\nThe thing he did, the thing he did before.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><br \/>\nFeature Image: The Chimera, by Louis Jean Desprez, 1777-1784.
