That\u2019s a side effect of a close death I guess. The difference between living and dying is really not that big a leap.<\/p>\n<p>This <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Covid<\/span> lack of a future and future planning is suffocating.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday someone said that lavender cheers you up.<\/p>\n<p>Happy days.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today nothing.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote most of the songs for the collection \u2018And as for loss..\u2019 During Aoife\u2019s illness.<\/p>\n<p>Her fight against cancer and by extension my fight lasted 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t understand when people seem to be offended by the phrase \u201cbattle with Cancer\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Ours was a fight on all fronts and though I understand the power of language, under this pressure some nuanced phrases get fucked in the bin..<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9534\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9534\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9534\" src=\"https:\/\/cassandravoices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/IMG_27361.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9534\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pic by Hectic Fish<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The next new low.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not pessimism \u2026 it\u2019s a reality. It may co-exist with the next new high, but that just didn\u2019t apply to us.<\/p>\n<p>We were told in no uncertain terms what our future (lack of) was.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-one-years of planning holidays comes to a halt.<\/p>\n<p>I could only express this in song writing.<\/p>\n<p>For me it was to block out the noise (there\u2019s always hope, it\u2019s amazing what they can do these days, la la la ).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first line of the song sets up the trip that follows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to write a hit song, going to get us out of here\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yeah right ..the next new low is coming<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing to get you better\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yeah right, the next new low is coming.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As for Hydra \u2026 that was originally the title for a song .. \u2018Hector Y Did You Run Away.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>But then the vision of the beast came\u00a0 to me at night.<\/p>\n<p>I recognized it for what it was. People who do real stuff.<\/p>\n<p>We discussed funeral arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Aoife asked me to play.<\/p>\n<p>She asked me to write a happy song, knowing that I never could look in that direction.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You asked me to write a happy song<\/p>\n<p>On the saddest day of our lives.<\/p>\n<p>Well thats just like you<\/p>\n<p>You do what you do.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve never seen somebody laugh as much as you while they fight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m losing you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Six months now. A year of firsts. A lot of lessons learnt. A new wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>And I feel quite stupid and not quite intelligent enough. Exposed, as my better half who I was always so proud to be beside has gone away.<\/p>\n<p>I have to build now.
